Los Angeles-based trumpeter Scott Steen has been a featured soloist for vocalist Bette Midler, Cirque du Soleil, and has performed alongside James Brown to Stewart Copeland. With his solo project “Remembering Miles”, Steen pays tribute to Miles Davis with his muted weaving, patient melodic development, and fiery aggression. Steen proves himself a skillful interpreter of the various stages of Davis’ career. Backing Steen is one of the top rhythm sections in Italy including Matteo Alfosnso on piano, Simone Serafini on bass, and Luca Colussi at the drums, these strong and skillful players interpret and invoke the past yet bring a modern and fresh vigor to Davis’ classic repertoire. The Quartet will be carrying the audience through the years of the 1950′s up until the 1970′s, reminding listeners of the various stages of Miles’ career and the impact his music has had upon the world, tying thematic elements of songs which were recorded at different periods, yet somehow seem to fir together like a well told story.

It has been some time since I have worked on this site! Cirque opened in NYC in March after a couple months of rehearsals. We had a few months of shows and more rehearsals. It seems the NY audience was looking more for a typical B’way show or a typical Cirque show, of which this is neither. THe show took a break for two months, which I spent in ITaly , Croatia, Paris, and Iceland. It was a great break and much needed after all the creation process.
We are now playing in Toronto, getting a great reception, and starting the tour which will take us next to San Francisco! More to come…

We are setting up at the beautiful Chicago Theater. Built in 1920, it is an architectural masterpiece. This is such a great place to hold a Cirque show, especially a twist on Vaudeville.
We will be here until January with shows beginning November 19. Lots of changes taking place!

We’ve been rehearsing at Cirque du Soleil’s headquarters in Montreal for a few weeks now. Great group of guys to work with! Great company to be a part of!
Composer Jean-Francois Côte has been knocking out some cool songs. He wrote the music for Cirque’s “Kooza” The band sounds great and there are plenty of trumpet features! We are headed into the main studio soon to join up with the rest of the cast. The leads really know their stuff. Annaleigh Ashford (Wicked, Legally Blond), and Michael Longoria (Jersey Boys, Hairspray) are great to work with and are a joy to watch.
The ensemble is amazing. Tap, acting, dancing, great! The clowns (comedic actors) are over the top hilarious!
